System Selection: Environmental & Hydraulic Works

Environmental & Hydraulic Works

In 1975, Siplast launched the Teranap TP elastomeric bitumen geomembrane on the market to provide an industrial solution to waterproofing dams, canals or basins. Since then this product line has evolved, always being adapted to respond to the new technical and environmental constraints.
Siplast is now proposing a complete line of geomembranes, associated with solutions to drain and to protect, as well as to aid contractors and contracting firms in design water-tight systems to ensure the reliability and longevity of structures.

Scope of application

Water retention installations
Irrigation works: earth canals, concrete canals, aqueducts, reservoirs.
Dams, embankments.
Drinking water reservoirs.
Fire-fighting water tanks, sprinkler basins.
Storm water regulation ponds.
Leisure lakes, ponds for golf courses.
Fish breeding ponds.

Waste water storage, landfill sites
Sewage treatment by aerated lagoons for domestic, industrial and agricultural wastes.
Industrial waste water and deposits.
Domestic waste landfill sites.

Performance requirements

Excellent resistance to ageing: the geomembrane needs to withstand high differences of temperatures and severe climatic conditions.
High resistance to puncturing to allows the geomembrane to be laid on a substrate which is not specially prepared
Easy anchoring and joining to concrete structures
Reliability and simplicity in application.
Need of easy repair methods in case of damages during application or maintenance operations.

Solutions

Siplast elastomeric bitumen Teranap TP geomembranes
- Excellent resistance to ageing of the Teranap TP geomembrane due to the elastomeric bitumen compound enabling the material to retain its elasticity for extensive periods.
- Teranap TP is highly resistant to puncturing due to its double protection by polyester film surfacing and a thick polyester fabric reinforcement
- The elastomeric bitumen compound of Teranap TP makes the application easier by torching for anchoring and joining works to concrete structures.
- Once unrolled the Teranap TP geomembrane, the overlaps can be immediately sealed by propane torch. This simple welding method is less dependent on weather conditions and less sensitive to humidity or dust during application.
- On such Teranap TP elastomeric bitumen geomembranes, repairs of accidental leaks can be carried out by torching patches cut in the same material. Repair under water is possible by using a specially prepared resin; thus, no need to remove the water.

A specific range of different types of Teranap TP:geomembranes manufactured from SBS elastomeric bitumen reinforced with a non-woven polyester geotextile. Underside covered with a polyester film highly resistant to root penetration. Surface coated with silica sand.
Teranap 331 TP:Large width, SBS elastomeric bitumen geomembrane with a thickness of 3mm
Teranap 431 TP:Large width, SBS elastomeric bitumen geomembrane with a thickness of 4 mm.
Teranap GTX:is a Teranap TP geomembrane with a factory-bonded geotextile. The close bonding of the membrane to an anti-puncturing geotextile enhances the mechanical performance of Teranap TP.
Benefits of Teranap GTX:
• Improved frictional resistance on the underlying substrate
• Allows innovative methods of application of layered concrete above the Teranap GTX membrane, such as:
- extruded concrete applied voing slipform
- shotcrete (fibre-reinforced concrete)
• Successfully applied on new and refurbished canals.
Teranap GTX is a Siplast patented product.
