Siplast has been the major waterproofing supplier for this huge project thanks to a long specification process with the awarding companies of this contract: Bechtel and EPCM.
As other useful assets, Siplast highlighted its presence in Qatar for many years through distributors, high profile image, backed-up by a high technical approach, remarkable references in the Gulf region and reliable installation contracting network.
For infrastructure job, Siplast supplied Teranap 431 TP geomembrane (100000m2) for the road tunnel connecting the City to the Airport. The 12 meter deep Cut & Cover tunnel was protected with Teranap TP. This system was chosen due to its robustness and proven permanence in underground works in the Middle East conditions (the tunnel is located only 200 meters from the seashore).
Bridges and ramps were waterproofed with Siplast Primer & Parafor Ponts (40000m2).
Siplast roofing systems have also been selected to waterproof the elegant buildings: the sail ship structure of the Emiri Terminal, the wave shape Passenger Terminal or the Aircraft Maintenance Hanger. All roofing systems have been designed individually in cooperation with consultants in order to offer the best waterproofing efficiency on highly insulated structures. Paradiene and Parafor systems were widely used due to their reliability.
Paradial S grey aluminium foil protected membrane was definitely chosen for its esthetical purpose to cover the Emiri Terminal.
In total this is about 80000m2 of roofs which will be protected with Siplast products.
The New Doha International Airport will become the second largest hub in the Gulf region.
